What's new
Plan is now the first fully Japanese-translated department, following the same pattern we've used three times for Spanish (Plan, Stay, Islands). Five pages, all in Japanese:
- 旅の計画 (Plan) — the department hub.
- ベストシーズン (Best time to visit) — including the two shoulder-season windows locals quietly prefer, and a season-by-activity table.
- 渡航・フライト情報 (Getting there & flying in) — realistic flight times from Japan and beyond, and what actually happens at agricultural inspection.
- 持ち物リスト (Packing list) — what genuinely catches first-timers out, and the one thing almost everyone forgets.
- 旅費の目安 (Budget breakdown) — why Hawaiʻi costs what it does, and the levers that actually move the total.
Why Plan, and why Japanese, first
Japan is one of Hawaiʻi's largest and most consistent visitor markets, and Plan — timing, flights, packing, budget — is the department a first-time visitor from anywhere needs before any other, which is exactly why it was also the first Spanish department we translated. Starting a new language with the same department keeps the pattern consistent and makes it easy to compare coverage across languages as we go.
Where the count stands
115 English pages. Spanish now covers three full departments (18 pages: Plan, Stay, Islands). Japanese has its first full department (5 pages: Plan), alongside its existing translated homepage. French remains at the translated-homepage stage. Next up: either a fourth Spanish department, a second Japanese department, or starting the same treatment for French.
