Making good on a deferred promise
Our hotels & resorts directory has said "individual property reviews are on the roadmap" for a couple of updates now. They're live: four full reviews, one per major island, each written the same way as the rest of the site — what the property is actually known for, who it's a genuinely good fit for, and the honest tradeoffs, not just amenity lists.
- Halekulani (Oʻahu) — quiet, design-forward Waikīkī luxury
- Andaz Maui at Wailea (Maui) — modern, adult-oriented South Shore resort
- Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (Big Island) — low-density luxury built around an excellent house reef
- Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi (Kauaʻi) — the island's largest full-service resort
None of these are sponsored or affiliate placements — see our vetting process for how we approach this generally. More property reviews, across more price points (not just top-tier luxury), are coming in future updates.
Also live: a sample itinerary
The Plan department's first sample 7-day itinerary is up too — a realistic, unrushed Oʻahu-based first trip, built around the "one island, done properly" advice already in our island-hopping guide.
What's next
A first-timer budget breakdown with real dollar ranges, more property reviews at different price points, and sample itineraries for Maui and the Big Island are next on the board.
